Stormwater Program Accepts Applications for Stormwater Steward Award

Award will recognize exceptional stormwater management practices
The Athens-Clarke County Stormwater program is accepting applications or nominations for the program’s first annual Stormwater Steward Award. The award highlights businesses within the development industry for exceptional stormwater management practices.
“The goal of this award is to recognize members of the development community who properly manage a job site or solve stormwater problems with innovative techniques,” explains Cail Hammons, stormwater education coordinator.
Projects will be judged based on five criteria:
—The use of innovative stormwater management practices in the design or construction of a development project within Athens-Clarke County.
—The use of innovative stormwater management practices to retrofit an existing development within Athens-Clarke County to better manage and/or treat its stormwater.
—Exceptional project management resulting in reduced construction related nonpoint source pollution.
—Significant efforts to provide stormwater education to employees and/or customers/clients.
—Volunteerism and company-wide participation in watershed education programs.
