Rivers Alive Has Been Rescheduled!
Due to rising stream levels from heavy rains, some of our project sites have become flooded. Mark your calendars because the 2009 Rivers Alive has been rescheduled to Sunday, November 8th from 2pm to 6pm. We still need lots of volunteers to help us clean up our local rivers and streams. Different clean-up opportunities include family friendly sites like Athens-Clarke County parks or the Greenway, and there are more challenging projects like removing privet and other invasive species that choke stream banks. Please also visit our kickoff of the stream restoration site at Dudley Park. Help out for a few hours and then celebrate our success with free pizza and music! The first 500 volunteers to sign in also get a free Rivers Alive t-shirt. Meet at the ACC Multi-Modal Transit Center at 775 East Broad Street. Please come and volunteer - you'll be protecting our local water supply and you and your friends will have a blast! To sign-up, go to www.HandsOnNortheastGA.org . Volunteers that had signed up for the October 17th date will need to re-register.
